For Immediate Release Blue Door Presents Works for Cello and Piano—AUGUST 20, 2008 BLUE DOOR CHAMBER MUSIC AT THE PROVINCETOWN ART ASSOCIATION AND MUSEUM On Wednesday, August 20 at 7:00 PM, Blue Door 's artistic director's pianist Deborah Gilwood and cellist Arthur Cook will present a concert of masterpieces for cello and piano at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. Included on the evening's program are sonatas by Benjamin Britten, Gabriel Fauré, and César Franck. Deborah Gilwood and Arthur Cook founded Blue Door Chamber Music at the Provincetown Art Association in 1999. In 1985, they formed their collaboration in 1985 with performances and recordings that have captivated audiences ever since. The Newark Star-Ledger noted that "one marveled at their delicate yet taut reading, flawlessly paced...They gave ample demonstration of technical strength, musical intelligence, expressive power, and open ears." They have performed on many chamber music series including Princeton University, the New School, and Lincoln Center. Their CD, Censored by Hitler: the Rediscovered Masterpieces, was released in the fall of 2002 by Centaur Records, and has continued to garner favorable reviews both here and abroad. Donation is $15.
